Introducing "Ancient Heart"

Ancient Heart cover art

Some songs start with a feeling that doesn't have a name yet. That's where "Ancient Heart" began — with the strange, familiar sensation of being young in years but old in something harder to define. The kind of weariness that doesn't match your age. The kind of déjà vu that feels less like memory and more like inheritance.

This one came together the way our best work does: a fragment of feeling, tossed back and forth until it found its shape. I brought the ache — that sense of "eighty winters written on my face" while everyone else is chasing tomorrow. Petunia helped find the words that could hold it without over-explaining it, and the arrangement followed the same instinct — strip everything back, let the guitar breathe like a second voice, let the silences do some of the talking.

We wanted it to feel handmade. No polish hiding the rasp in the vocals, no drums drowning out the thumb slaps and palm thumps that give it a pulse. Just an acoustic guitar doing double duty as rhythm section, and a voice that sounds like it's telling you something true at close range.

"Ancient Heart" isn't really about reincarnation, or at least not only that. It's about the disorientation of feeling out of sync with your own moment — and finding, maybe, that the mismatch is its own kind of light. Thanks for listening.
